Dispersing with Reduced Carbon Footprint
Dr. Ludger Fischer ¨C AC Serendip AG, Switzerland

Abstract:

Dispersing is the most energy consuming and least energy efficient step in the whole coatings production process. With the rising cost of energy and raw materials and growing awareness to reduce the dependency on mineral oil, energy efficient pigment dispersion becomes increasingly important. Various dispersing techniques will be compared with actual cases. A novel LPN Homogeniser production programme, which works with fluid dynamic methods without grinding balls will be introduced. Such programme can reduce the energy consumption of more than 80% while maintaining desired product quality level.
